Prevent and Treat Crow's Feet With These 9 Tips

Learning how to prevent and treat crow’s feet is one of the top skin care concerns of women. Those little wrinkles that start to form on the outer corners of your eyes are often inevitable, but they can be treated! Some people take meticulous care of their skin and still see these laugh lines, where others barely use any sunscreen and are line-free! If you’re bothered by the sight of crow’s feet, take a look at these nine simple tips that can help you prevent and treat crow’s feet! [Source: AllWomenStalk.com]

1. Stop Squinting
Before we get into how to treat crow’s feet, let’s talk about one of the top ways we get those pesky wrinkles in the first place! According to dermatologist Dr. Neal Schultz, smiling, squinting and sleeping are the top three ways we get crow’s feet. We don’t want to cut back on smiling so we have to nip the squinting in the bud! Wear sunglasses, and if you need corrective lenses, get some prescription contacts or glasses ASAP!

2. Sleep Smart
The other culprit in crow’s feet per Dr. Schultz was sleeping. It’s not actually sleeping that can lead those little crinkles but the way we sleep. Sleeping on your back can help eliminate lines from the creases on your pillow but if you just can’t sleep on your back, Schultz recommends using a U-shaped travel pillow or using a satin pillowcase.

3. Moisturize
Another way to prevent crow’s feet is to keep up the moisture levels in your body. Do this by drinking plenty of water and using hydrating creams on your face and eye area. Our skin sometimes gets dried out from lack of water or hydration, and as a result we get fine lines and wrinkles. Drink water and use creams that contain retinoids, copper peptides and alpha hydroxy acids.

4. Peels
If you already have crow’s feet and are looking for a simple treatment to treat those bad boys, try a chemical peel. You can get this peel done at a medical spa or doctor’s office, and it removes layers of dead skin so you’re left with fresh, radiant skin. You can also try a glycolic peel, which is also effective. However, they take some recovery time so it’s something to take into consideration.

5. Grapes
Did you know that you can find grapes on the ingredient list of many anti-aging skin care products? Grapes contain antioxidants, vitamins, phytonutrients and phytochemicals. All of these elements help protect and nourish our skin so it looks its best. Try mashing a handful of green grapes and applying the juice with a cotton ball on the eyes, mouth and forehead area. Rinse it off after 5 minutes and repeat it 2-3 times weekly to help reduce fine lines!

6. Egg Whites
Another natural and easy at-home method to treat crow’s feet is to use an egg white mask. Egg whites can tighten the skin and help reduce the appearance of crow’s feet. All you need is the egg white from one egg! Apply the egg white to a clean face and leave it on for about 15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. You’ll be left with tighter pores and firmer skin!

7. Take Breaks
An important tip to prevent crow’s feet is to give your eyes a break! If you sit in front of a computer all day, be sure to give your eyes hourly breaks and consider getting a screen filter to reduce glare. Also, if you use an e-reader often, make sure you watch the light conditions. Anything that can strain your eyes can cause crow’s feet so it’s important to stay on top of these things!

8. Stop Smoking
I know, you’ve heard it a million times but smoking not only robs your skin of collagen and elastin, the smoke can also cause you to squint, which is a big no-no! If you needed another reason to quit, do it for the sake of your skin! Every cigarette you smoke, you’re losing valuable collagen and elastin so as hard as it might be, it’s definitely worth it to quit!

9. Botox
The most permanent fix to treat crow’s feet is Botox. If you’ve tried eye creams, peels and other natural remedies and they’re just not doing it for you, Botox could be a good option. Dr. Neal Schultz states that Botox can be used as a preventive treatment and a way to treat existing crow’s feet. Talk to your doctor or dermatologist if you want a more permanent solution to crow’s feet.

Ultherapy to Maintain a Youthful Neck

How often do we apply creams, serums and SPF to our face and completely forget that our neck needs the special attention, too? This original article, posted on NewBeauty.com, had six creams and lotions to help maintain a youthful neck. But sometimes it's just not enough. So, we've added in one more way to get a youthful neck, Ultherapy.

We get so busy gauging the progress of wrinkles on our face, we forget that the signs of aging might be creeping up on our neck and décolleté area, too. But you can stave off discoloration, fatty deposits, wrinkles, bands and even loose skin that can evolve into the dreaded turkey wattle—and maintain a more youthful look.

The Proven Way To Get A Younger-Looking Neck
Lotions, creams and serums, along with sunblock, provide an anti-aging arsenal that can help stave off the signs of aging, but they can only do so much and at some point in-office alternatives may be necessary. Noninvasive skin tighteners like Ultherapy and Thermage can help firm skin.

Besides the visible effects of lifting and tightening, there is also an invisible result from Ultherapy with the creation of new collagen, which helps the skin maintain its youthfulness. Ultherapy lifts, tightens, and tones loose skin to counteract the effects of time and gravity. One of the first effects of gravity is that the brows descend, and the eyes start to appear smaller. Ultherapy will lift the brow, which in turn reduces the excess skin on the lids, opens up the eyes and gives a more refreshed appearance.

Say Goodbye to Lip Lines and Hi To Juvederm

Kissable lips are among the long list of beauty desires all women want. And it's no secret that plump lips are synonymous with kissable. But, as we age, lines can start to form that make our once plump lips look flat. Luckily, there are things we can do to both prevent and repair those lines! Originally posted on NewBeauty.com, here are five things you can do to get kissable lips.

Everyone likes to pucker up from time to time, but that pursing motion-along with aging, collagen and elastin loss-can cause those tiny vertical lines to develop across the top of your upper lip. Not only do these lines make you look older, but they also cause your lipstick to bleed beyond your lips. However, you can keep these fine lines at bay or diminish them if they've started to appear. Here's how:

Stop smoking: The continual pursing of your lips, along with the cellular damage smoking causes, will break down the collagen that keeps your lips looking soft and supple.

Moisturize and exfoliate: The sun and other environmental elements will cause your lips to dry out, so be sure to use a lip balm regularly that includes ingredients like honey or hyaluronic acid. You'll also want to slough away dry skin with a gentle lip exfoliator once a week.

Go for nudes: If you like a glossy finish to your lips, choose nude shades that complement your skin tone, since darker tones are more apt to emphasize the lines. Play up your eye makeup, instead.

Resurface the skin: You can target those tiny lines with fractional lasers, dermabrasion or chemical peels in various strengths, depending on how pronounced your lines have become. Pigmentation changes may be an issue for the sensitive skin around your lips after a laser or peel treatment, so be sure to discuss this with your dermatologist.

Fill in lines: Fillers injected, like Juvederm, into the lips must be done with the utmost care to avoid overly filled or “duck” lips. Be sure to seek out a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who has extensive experience in filling lips so that you can smooth the lines and achieve a natural look for your lips. Your physician may also suggest a small injection of a neurotoxin such as Botox, or Dysport to lessen the muscle movement that can cause the lines to form.

Maintaining Your Laser Hair Removal Results

Once you’ve gone through the full course of treatment, it’s important to protect your skin from the sun and keep it healthy to prolong your results. If not, you are just damaging your skin again. Original article on NewBeauty.com.

1. Stay Out of the Sun: “The best way to maintain your results is to stay out of the sun and wear sunblock daily,” says Boca Raton, FL, dermatologist Dr. Allison Schwedelson.

2. Take Care of Your Skin: Now that your skin is healthy, you want to keep it that way. Sunscreen, antioxidants and a moisturizer are essential. Antioxidants repair damage and protect skin to prevent future damage. Moisturizers keep skin hydrated.

3. Use a Retinol Regularly: Over-the-counter and prescription-strength retinoids reinforce laser results by keeping the skin in repair mode, creating new collagen and exfoliating the surface.

4. Interval Treatments: Nothing lasts forever—not even the results of a laser. Re-treatments every now and then will help maintain the longevity of your results for healthier skin.

Get Jennifer Lawrence's Cat Eye from the Oscars

There's no denying that Jennifer Lawrence is America's 'it" girl. We all just want to be her best friend! There's no denying that she looked stunning on the red carpet last Sunday at the Oscars. And if you're one of the many women who are wondering how to get her cat-eye look, read on....[original article found on BeautyHigh.com]

"One of the main reasons we love Jennifer Lawrence so much is that she’s so relatable. Sure, the girl’s got a mantle full of acting awards and she’s gutsy enough to chop all of her hair off into a pixie haircut, but she always manages to make us feel like we can do what she’s doing. At the 2014 Oscars, her red carpet look was stunning, but it also happened to be a very wearable look we can steal.

To get Jennifer’s look at home, begin with Dior Capture Totale Triple-Correcting Serum Foundation for a smooth base and apply Vibrant Color Powder Blush in in Cocktail Peach. As for the cat eye, Jennifer wore the Diorshow Art Pen Intense Professional Felt-Tip Eyeliner in Catwalk Black flicked up towards the outer corner, and the eye was finished with Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara in Over Black. Her natural lip that gives off a “my lips but better” feel was the new Dior Addict Fluid Stick in Mirage, and it’s the perfect color for every day or hitting a red carpet (if you happen to be doing that any time soon)."

What can I do to stop my face from drooping as I age?

No one needs convincing that as we age, our skin loses its firm, youthful appearance. Eventually, skin begins to droop and sag until you might feel like you hardly recognize yourself in the mirror. For this situation, we can thank gravity, along with the loss of facial fat, collagen, elasticity and hyaluronic acid. As the skin loses its volume, it begins to sag, causing the formation of wrinkles and folds. It all leads to an alteration in the actual shape of the face and hollowed, sunken forehead, eyes and cheeks and a heavier, wider jaw.

Now there is a simple cure for the droop. In just one non-surgical treatment, the new volumizing dermal filler Juvéderm Voluma XC reverses this situation and restores full cheeks, lifting the whole face and reclaiming the heart-shaped look of youth. Thanks to its proprietary cross-linking process, Juvéderm Voluma XC can also last as long as two years before a touch up is necessary. Injections of Voluma plump the area deep beneath the skin, adding volume back to your face, just where you need it, and nowhere you don’t. Now that Voluma is here, it’s time to say “so long” to the droop and “hello cheekbones!”
