Which Dermal Filler Lasts Longest?

Dermal fillers provide an easy and safe method of restoring fullness and volume to your face. However, all fillers are not created equal, and no filler provides permanent results. Once you achieve your thrillingly more youthful look, you will need to consider timing of touch-ups to maintain it. Juvéderm and Restylane are fillers made from hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in the body. Because hyaluronic acid is found in your body, it will also be absorbed by it over time. Restylane has the shortest staying power of any dermal filler and requires a touch-up every four to six months. Juvéderm comes in three formulations – Ultra, Ultra Plus, and Voluma, lasting 6 months, 12 months and 24 months respectively.

The product Radiesse can also last up to a year, but it is made from calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel carrier, meaning it is a synthetic product. The filler Sculptra is another synthetic product, a poly-L-lactic acid that helps replace collagen. While it typically requires 2-3 treatments to achieve optimal results, Sculptra lasts two years or sometimes longer.

The newest product to market, Juvéderm Voluma XC, is a recently FDA-approved filler also made from naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid. Voluma is made with a special cross-linking process that gives it more thickness and moldability. It’s also injected deeper than the others, so more than just a filler, it’s a volumizer. Even better, Voluma lasts up to two years. Juvéderm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, and Juvéderm Voluma can tackle different problems, and between the three, virtually any area of the face can be treated – whether it’s lifting cheeks or fine work around the mouth and eyes. The results are safe, natural and frankly, amazing.
